Henning Weiß ensures that any new hotels, wherever they are in the world, still have the individuality and spirit that is expected from 25hours. To this end, he deals with both the technical challenges that building a hotel involves and develops pioneering products that give the brand a boost and secure its future viability.

Weiß, who grew up in a hotel by the North Sea, completed his professional training in the small but chic Louis C. Jacob school on the Elbchaussee in Hamburg. He joined 25hours following trips to London and Berlin. In 2006, he became manager during the opening of the Frankfurt hotels and was responsible for the opening of the 25hours Hotel HafenCity in 2011.

Mette Faarup Jørgensen is an industrial designer and founder of AM PM Studio. She is currently working with Comwell hotels creating unique interior solutions. In her presentation she will elaborate more on creating unique spaces.

How do you reinvent yourself and always in a better version, when working with hotel chains and individual hotels? Operations are increasingly defining a hotel, especially in Denmark. You can create the most amazing hotel, but the operation and the concept must understand each other.

Managing Director | 25Hours

As Managing Director, Michael End concentrates on the development and vision of the 25hours Company. He has been a part of the company since 2006, was one of the first employees and understands 25hours as well as only a few can. Since 2014 he was Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for the areas of Business Development and Operations.

He completed his apprenticeship in Hotel Management at the Grand Elysée Hotel Hamburg and did a bachelor’s degree in Hotel & Tourism Management at the University Center César Ritz in the Swiss town of Brig.

Throughout the course of his career, Lionell Sussman have built an expertise in leading innovative design and construction teams through the development and execution of specialty stores, hotels as well as residential and commercial projects.

Today he is part of the Global Design Strategies group for Marriott International that is focused on elevating brands of the MI Portfolio to address the needs of the Next Generation Traveler.

RICHARD MCCONKEY
Associate Director | Universal Design Studio

Richard is an Associate Director of Universal Design Studio and has led the design and execution of many of Universal’s award winning projects. Notable projects include the design for Frieze Art Fair, a 20,000 sqm temporary annual town for Art in Regents Park London, flagship for Mulberry on New Bond St, Ace Hotel in London, At Six, a 343 room modern luxury hotel housed in a brutalist building in Stockholm and currently working on the new Nordic Choice hotel project in the old post headquarter in Copenhagen city centre.

Richard will talk about of some of the practices key hospitality projects, the intersections between permanent and temporariness and how the studio approaches creating projects that feel rooted in their place.
